Here's a simple holiday look that can go from a very natural to a little more dramatic. Maybe you're going from work to a New Years Eve Party. I can show you how to get this look with just a few items.

Picture

For both look I used Lorac Pro Palette. I used the color champagne (1) on my lid and the color taupe (2) on the brow bone of my eyes. For the lips I used Mac lipstick in Myth and mixed it with NYX Butter Gloss.

Picture

For the second using the same palette all I added was the color black (3) to the outer corner of my eye and changed my lipstick to Mac Ruby Woo. Just make sure you guys blend the eyeshadow so you don't have any harsh lines.

Picture

You can also add a little eyeliner to your water line to make the look a more dramatic.

Picture

Maybe you guys don't want to splurge on the the Lorac Pro Palette you can use Maybelline "The Nudes Palette". You can get it at Ulta for $9.99 or you can also find it CVS and Walgreens.

Roman, 21, Chicago, IL

For me modeling wasn't something I initially latched on to. When I was little my family and friends use to say that I was photogenic but being young that wasn't a spark telling me I should become a model. It took till I moved to NYC when I was 19 to be scouted for NYFW to know that I have what it takes. I felt amazed not only by the opportunity but it's lifestyle. I'm a very fun outgoing type with an energetic personality. Guess I'm like that because of everything I went through when I was younger. Modeling has become not my career but an experience because even though it's fun being casted for these ads and campaigns, traveling, getting free designer clothes at times and being featured in magazines meeting amazing people, I know first hand it's only for a limited ride. Youth fades and so does the image. New faces emerge but I take this as a God's blessing to be able to go through these experiences and be able to get the great exposure. But once everything is said and done my true calling is becoming an architect and selling my books into best sellers. I want to be able to look back and tell my kids that "yes I lived a full life". To look back and know I took chance and became friends with opportunity because you never know what's to come of it. We dream of a better life for ourselves, through it all we attempt to achieve said dream, once we've accomplished what we've set out to do the dream shouldn't end there because it's not about the destination but the journey itself and we must inspire others to do the same. Modeling brings great memories and moments and amazing people into my life. My next goal is becoming an international model. And for me that's just the beginning.

New Year's 4 My Male Peers

12/29/2014

We all would love to bring in the New Year's looking better than the person standing next to us whether we are at a party, home, church or a simple gathering. For men, our clothing pieces are just as important as women's. We should put the same effort in as much as they do. It is completely ok for men to wear accessories such as watches, chains, wrist bracelets and etc as women do.

Every male has their own comfortable style. Some males rather a suit then jeans. Well here will be pieces to rock with whatever you feel comfortable with for your New Years.

Picture
This for the males that are more on the fancy side of dressing. A casual suit in black, navy blue, or even a tone of red can never go wrong with the night. As you can see here, the suit is not the only attraction on the model, but he has added accessories to enhance his outfit. Accessories are not hard to find especially if you live in the city but be careful on the color of accessories you out with your suit.
Picture
This outfit is for those who prefer something more laid back but still the right amount of formal. The ripped or regular jeans add an informal taste. The sweater can be any New Year's color whether it be red, gold or any champagne color. Or you can do New Year's colors on your collard shirt with a black or white sweater depending on which color you will like to show more. Ripped jeans are easy to find at any major retail store ranging in prices depending on how detailed you want them. The sweaters you chose can be plain as day or be made with designs depending on your style. The collard shirts can be purchased at places like Old Navy, Marshalls, Macy's or even the Men's Wearhouse. You should not be spending more than $40 on a collard shirt.

Club Redken recently came out with an amazing product called color rebel. It gives you the opportunity to have fun colored hair for the night! It comes in a few colors and is very easy to do at home. Depending on how much color you’re looking for it can take anywhere from 5-15 mins. It comes in an easy to use bottle that resembles a magic marker. You simply twist the bottom to make the product come out and apply it to wherever you’re looking for a pop of color. I like to use it on the tips of the hair or even small pieces like highlights. A great idea is to take a few chunks of hair apply color rebel and incorporate it into a simple braid. The contrast in color will really pop and give you great hair for the club. The product costs about 25 dollars and will last you a few times.  Don’t forget to use gloves!! When you’re ready to take the product out you can use any hair oil to break down the solution!!!

The Dinner Hairstyle

This hairstyle is perfect for to go out to dinner. Its elegant classy and perfect to ring in the new year. Its simple to do and looks great on everyone!! If you have really straight hair it would be a good idea to start with quickly curling your hair with  bigcurling iron. This will help it to not slip out so easily! This will take about 15 to 20 minutes to recreate this look. All you need for this look is hairspray, bobby pins, hairpins, and two small hair ties.

1. First start by teasing the top half of hair. A great product to use is redken quick tease, you simply lift up the hair where you want to add volume to and spray it at the root for instant height.

2. Then twist it in the back and fasten in with bobby pins. Criss cross the bobby pins over eachother for extra hold

3. Split the remaining hair in two pieces and braid both ends

4. Take one braid and wrap it around your head and secure with bobby pins

5. Wrap the other braid the opposite way and secure the same way.

6. Use hair pins wherever any hair is sticking out or feels loose.

7. Be sure to use hairspray over everthing so it lasts all night

Ok girls here’s a great style for going down to the city to watch the ball drop. It’s perfect for running around in the city, and if you decide to grab a bite or get a drink you’ll still look the part. Everyone loves the sock bun, and the braid makes this look a little more chic. It will take about 15 minute to achieve this look.  All you need is a hair tie, some bobby pins and hairspray.

1. tie your hair at the top of your head

2. Spray over with hairspray

3. Leave one small piece out to braid later

4. Take small pieces of hair and lightly twist them

5. Wrap them around the pony tail and secure with bobby pins

6. Go around the pony until you’ve recreated the bun

7. Last step take the piece of hair you left out and braid it

8. Wrap it around the base of your bun and secure with bobby pins

9. Add a cute clip or headband to jazz it up

10. You can even take a fun piece of ribbon and braid it into your hair when you wrap it around the bun

11. Now go bring in 2015 looking amazing!!! Happy New Year!!!

Picture

If you’re having a low key new year at home with the family, a fishtail braid is something so simple that can really enhance your look. This year it’s all about the braids, its quick, easy and beautiful. For this look you need a little hairspray and two hair ties. It will take no more than 10 minutes.

1. To start just put your hair up into a ponytail at what ever height you like.

2. Then you split your hair into two sections

3. Take one small piece from the left section and cross it over to the right section of hiar

4. Then take one small sction from the right and cross it over to the left.

5. And you just continue this all the way down until you have no more hair to work with.

6. Secure the bottom with a hair tie!! That’s it, how easy !!

7. When you're done you can loosen up the briaid to give it an edgier look.

8. Adding a pretty headband can also jazz it up a bit!!

9. Don’t forget hairspray to make sure it lasts!!

That's Ohdee

I've been a DJ since 2010 and I always wanted my own merchandise to sell with a mixtape attached. In 2012, I realized I had way too many fitteds, snapbacks, and five panel hats to keep up with. I had a specific taste to them as well, I didn't like just any hat but at the same time I had variation. In 2013, I started getting into fedoras; paying attention to shapes, materials, additional accessories like small chains and feathers. My style has become its own, so I figured why not come out with my own line of hats since I'm consistently buying a new one.

By late 2013, I had booklets full of a themed collection I was so excited to produce. I contacted several manufacturers who all turned me down because my designs were too customized, that their machine couldn't make that cut. This is something the world hasn't seen yet and I can't put them out because the design is too complex. Frustrated of course, I concluded to just branding myself first. Beanies are an easy market to sell and I figured I just get my name out for the time being.

Fall of 2014 I released the "That's OhhDee" line of beanies. There are two fonts both around the theme of "Asia" because I am Chinese. The packaging was originally going to be a Chinese food take out box, but due to certain circumstances I wasn't able to do so.

Why was I inspired to make my beanies based on my ethnicity? Well, I lived out majority of my life ashamed of being Asian because I have always been bullied for it. I would always answer people by saying I was half Mexican first before I mentioned being half Chinese as well when they asked for my ethnicity. Up until 2012-2013, I learned to embrace it. So I wanted to honor that in my beanies.

The back of the hat has the "That's OhhDee" logo which is a paw print with the word "OHHDEE" strategically engraved in it. This was decided due to the theme of "footprints" because I believe everybody that passes by in your life, leaves a slight impression, a print for example. I chose for it to be a paw print instead of a footprint because ever since I was a child I've been obsessed with dogs and wolves due to their strength and loyalty. The "OHHDEE" is in there because not only is it my artist name, but because I believe if you're ever going to do something in life you've always got to overdo it, in a good way of course. I'm not being a negative influence here at all, I just think that an overachiever will receive and appreciate the stars they earn on their way to the moon.

My main focus is my career in audio engineering so for the most part, my sketches for the real hats I want to come out with are sitting on my desk waiting to come to life. I've been interning for Coco and Breezy for almost two years now and they've been so helpful in my process, but they know my love for music is much more which is why I could not be more blessed after they hooked me up with an internship with Lounge Studio.

Mina, 18 years young Queens, New York

My fashion inspiration is and will always be my mom. Growing up, I would always see her sew her own clothes and I witnessed other people come to her with their clothes to fix/make. I would always say, "thats so dope, I want people to like my art and passion for what I love so much that they trust me with their own pocessions!" My mother taught me that fashion does not have to be so serious and boring. She would bring home the ugliest fabrics sometimes and make ugly things on purpose & we would wear them and laugh forever. That is why till this day I find it sad when people can't find the joy in fashion, or when people take themselves way too seriously.

My fashion goal is to become a stylist, well it changes up sometimes to being a designer but that's perfectly fine because I'm still young enough to explore both. It's just something about styling.... I would often give my friends shirts to wear & the happiness i experience from that alone is amazing, so I can't wait until I get to just create someone's entire look one day, that would make me happiest. Fashion is my form of art and it means everything when people appreciate it.

Picture

My struggle with fashion is like no other but one struggle that I know alot of people can relate to is being a muslim female. From the beginning, we are taught that fashion is not for us, well I want to be proof that it is, whether you like how i dress or not I am proof that we are taking steps forward, we can dress how we want, act how we want and people can still love us! I not only aspire to be in the fashion industry but also to change the world with my voice, the best way to relate to people is through fashion and im figuring out how I can put all my social justice views and fashion together, my goal is to perfect it. These are the two most important things in life to me. I always felt like I may not be good enough, smart enough, pretty enough but you could never take away my knowledge of fashion and social justice. That's what I'm best at. I think we all need to find those few things we're amazing at and perfect them. One question I always get asked is where i shop. I really do wish i had an interesting answer for that but truthfully when I'm not making clothes/ wearing clothes my mom has made then im either thrifting (goodwill specifically, found some of my best pieces there) or forever21/h&m, american apparel alot now because I have to as an employee. But thats about it, basically any cute store in the mall will have 1 or 2 amazing pieces if you look hard enough.

Like many accessories today in fashion, glassss have made a huge impact in every fashion sense. Whether you need glasses to see or just rock them for the fun of it, glasses can make any outfit look better.

There are many different types of frames for glasses, some being more affordable than others. Gold frame glasses seem to be more popular amongst our generation. If you are from New York, you can by regular gold frame glasses on St. Marks in Manhattan right off of Astor Pl. If you don't live in New York, or even if you do, Ricky's or any popular shop sells glasses.

When I was first asked what inspired me as a model, I had to think. It has been such a long journey that it just comes natural to me. When I really sat and thought about it I wanted to push my self harder then what I've been doing. First off let's make this clear.... I'm not a tall girl or even average size at that. I'm pushing 5'2 and a half... & if you're short then you know every half an inch matters. Being this short since about 14 was and still is my biggest inspiration yet struggle. I've always gotten "Vanessa you'd be a great model....if you were taller". If that isn't the most frustrating thing to hear then I'm not sure what is! Now that I'm in my 20's I've learned that everything is only hard and complicated if you make it too be. I'm probably not top choice for runway...YET but those same girls that'll be your top choice for runway look like an ant on the floor if put in an editorial with me. You have to be great at what you know and slowly work your way into what the world thinks is socially acceptable and show them that you're a person too!

Now it's not all fun and games because as I'm writing this at 8:30 in the morning on the train on my way to my second job is probably one of the few quiet moments I get to my self. Growing as a person is still doing what you have to and still managing to do what you love...as people say..."long nights and early mornings" well I'm here to tell you that's completely true. There are days where I go into work at 10am to finish at maybe 9:30 at night to then go shoot, finishing around maybe 2 or 3 to go home and sleep a few hours to be at my next job at 9am sharp! Finding the motivation to have a schedule like that is something you'd have to do yourself, either you have it or you have to find the strength as well. You have to be really assertive with your time, I'm not saying work work work because you'll drive your self crazy but while thinking about your life find people who accept your schedule and understand that it's what you love and most likely you have home responsibilities as well so they would need to understand...if not you don't need that type of negativity.

Most people know me as Vanilla or Nena and know that I'm one of the nicest women you'll ever meet. I will only put up with so much because there is so much to get done. Well for me I have a list! I love to physically see my goals on a paper, makes them seem so much more real and reachable. Most people know I have my little shirt line and in the near future I will be re-releasing them, with that being number 1 on my short term goal list along with a mini tribute shoot to jLo, and a huge project with a certain love and hip hop start but I won't say much...more on the long term list is to change history, seems really big for one person but If I can at least put my foot in the door in making it socially acceptable to be a model that's not just known for tattoos. I need to see my self on the cover of vogue to be able to say my life is complete and until then it's working to get to that point. My best advice for anyone is to be your self...you never know who's watching !

My fashion inspirations:Personally, i really don't have an inspiration specifically like a person .. But I am inspired by people who dare to be different! & stray away from the normal "fashion" but still put it together nice and make the styles come together.

My fashion goal:My goal is to have my own clothing line! And also to be a business mogul and to be notable in the fashion industry, and recognized by everyone; becoming well known, and have a reserved seat at fashion week. Another fashion goal I have is to atleast design or style a celebrity for Grammys.

I aspire to be: I aspire to be the opitamy of style because fashion changes but style is forever. I aspire to keep my style and always have an amazing sense of creativity and have an originality when it comes to every piece I wear.

My fav shops: I honestly don't have a favorite, I shop every were from the cheapest store in the corner to the most well known store, on the big streets. but I do love the stylings of Balmain, & H&M they way they both pair are amazing I love balmains styling because the intricate designs and I love H&M stylings because it's clean style.. But on a budget.
