I appreciate the addition to your blog on me. I'll start off by letting you know where modeling first came into my life including fashion. I was young when I wanted to be a model. I remember being in fifth grade and having people always tell me I was adorable and I "should be a model" I never thought much of it until it was my last month in sixth grade and my grandmother took me to buy a couple hollister shirts. I was told I dressed to matchy matchy and preppy. so my good friends halfway gave me a makeover because they knew what girls liked, because they were girls. so from the point on I was in love with fashion and being unique in your own style. I am always the person that loves their own style. so from there on I always aspired to become a model and as of a few months ago I still had no idea where to start. I was approached on instagram, twitter and in person for modeling opportunities. I always loved the art of modeling and now that it's coming into reality I am so blessed at the opportunities. I've already in such a short time done quite a few modeling jobs and every time is just a big learning experience in the best way. I push myself to work hard and become the best I can be. modeling isn't just a job or hobby for me, it's close to a lifestyle to me. the art of modeling is what I love the most. not the pay, not the title or even wearing the most amazing designer clothes. all of those things mean so much to me but the art is my reason to become the best I can be. I'm a very humble person and I'll always be that no matter how large or long my career goes. I will always remain the same person I am. so, me behind the scenes is very patient, very excited and very calm at the same time. I just love modeling. I go by the life motto of "everything happens for a reason" and to be honest, it's the most truthful statement. I feel like GOD is always blessing me with something greater even if things fall out of place. to anyone reading this, just remember things can go completely wrong and somehow, someway things always exceed to be better. just have faith and be honest and stay humble. you have to work hard to be where you want in your life. I, myself have been through things to make me feel like I want to give up on my dreams but it has only pushed me to become the best person I can be. moving forward, I set goals for myself and it's just to work hard, always work hard and stay humble. I want to be able to be looked up to, only so I can make kids and people in general that dreams are unlimited and magical and to not give up. for me, it's the art I like about it the most. thank you and follow me along my journey to see where I go. love anyone who follows me and wishes the best. support is always the biggest compliment.

Elias, 19, Los Angeles It all first started when I was about 10. I always loved tupac and admired him for his style as well as his music, I would always try to be different from everyone else cause everyone would always look alike so I wanted to stand out. What made me get into modeling was just being a fan of fashion. It's really fun and I enjoy being apart of ideas and different visions people have for fashion. The place I grew up is just like any other regular ghetto neighborhood, so everyone is just accustom of seeing the same look so when they see something different they are quick to judge Fashion inspiration: Tupac, Rocky Fashion goals: Hopefully one day come out in Vogue magazine. I aspire to be a well known fashion model. Fashion is apart of me and makes me feel alive. Fashion struggles: I guess you can say get judged by people especially in the area that I live in. Favorite shops: Well I thrift here and there but vintage stores are my favorite. I like to wear rare gear, something you do see somebody else wearing. Fashion is not just about clothing or the shoes you wear but it is also about the accessories you rock. An outfit can never be complete without at least one accessory to go with it. One very popular accessory that hasn't gone out of style since it was created is the Gold Watch. Gold watches go with every piece of clothing created. Whether you are making a huge fashion statement or just being comfortable, a gold watch puts the special finishing touch. There are hundreds of different types of gold watches nation wide but the most popular ones range from Casio, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and etc. So I've been seeing these cool chic septum rings all over the place. On Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr. Literally on almost every social media! These cute little rings are becoming such a great accessory. They're such a huge statement piece too! They're are tons of places where you can find them. They come in gold and silver. Also if you don't want to actually pierce your septum they have faux ones that just stick right up there! Look for where to get them down below! My name is Ricardo D'oleo (MozartRick//28thCenturyMan) and I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I moved from the Dominican Republic to New York. At the age of 9. It was a struggle coming from the Dominican Republic because I had to learn a new language, and man, I wasn't very interested in learning a new language. New York is everything, it has everything. If it wasn't for New York, I'm not sure I would've ever been determined to pursue in a music career. One song that lit a spark for me to pursue in music was, "Beautiful People" by Chris Brown. That's the track that started everything for me and it was my favorite song all of time. The tone used in the song was very futuristic and the song had a innovative tone--different from the songs Chris Brown usually makes. My inspiration is Kanye West as well. "808's and Heartbreaks" made me appreciate art and showed Kanye's growth as an artist. His sound on the album was different and that's something I want to do as an artist. I don't want to make mainstream music, I want to be an artist. The album had a remarkable impact on my life. I related to the album, because of my painful breakup that I went through when I was 14. My ex was my first love and my first heartbreak. It was a painful experience as well as a humbling experience. All is well now because that experience inspired me to become the artist I'm going to be. I want to be an artist that inspires people through my music. I want to feel the adrenaline when I go on stage and put on a good show for my fans. I want to show creativity through my music--as well as visuals. My sound will be heard, some people will like this sound and some won't. That's how life is, I want to create a sound that is unique and not generic. I will get to that point, and I will create art. Music inspires me through fashion as well. Kanye West is an inspiration to me in a variety of ways. His outlook on fashion, and the way he dresses inspires me, but I still have my own style. I don't follow trends. I want to get to a point in my career where I create trends. I'm so thankful for the people that I've met this year, I'm thankful for my team, I've witnessed some setbacks and got through it. 2015 is going to be a good year and it will show what I have to offer. I can't wait man, I'm so humbled and thankful for the things I've received thus far. https://soundcloud.com/28thcenturyman Instagram @mozartrick Twitter @mozartrick // @28thcenturyman Facebook Rick West Myles, 16, Maryland Why photography? This is such a hard question to answer because it’s kind of difficult for me to put it into words, I’ve always been interested in the arts and being creative. I think the reason I love photography because of the feeling I get while composing and shooting images. I love putting together concepts in my head, and putting them together and seeing them in their final form, I love seeing people’s reaction when they look at my pictures and knowing that I caused that reaction. For me, photography is an excellent creative outlet. What made you so passionate about it? Seeing all the possibilities within the photography field I think is what really made me passionate about the medium. There are limitless possibilities within photography, people literally are always going to need pictures. You could do fashion photography, model headshots, event photography. Photography could be incorporated into almost anything you think of. Another thing that made me passionate was. How long have you been into photography? I’ve been into photography for about 3 years but I’ve only been seriously shooting for 2 years. How would you describe your shooting style? I love making use of natural light and bold colors in my photographs, I use vsco cam to edit a lot of my work because I like my pictures to have the feel of photos shot on 35mm film. I’ve been told that my work has a distinct style, but I think I’m still developing it. What accomplishments have you made so far? Currently I’m the photographer/videographer for my school’s modeling team, New Generation Models. I also serve as the photo editor at my school’s student run publication, The Searchlight. I’ve been featured in Utter Couture’s blog to promote my gofundme campaign, and two of my images have been chosen for VSCOcam’s curated VSCOgrid. I plan on submitting one of my images to the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards sometime soon, so I’m hopeful for a gold key award. What do you see yourself doing in the next 5 years? In 5 years I would be in my Junior year of College for fashion photography, I could see myself being an art director or freelance photographer for a fashion publication. I could also see myself selling prints, and zines on the side maybe. Do you think photography is a hard field to get into? Definitely, anytime you go into a creative career field you’re going to experience a lot of competition, setbacks, and a lot of “no’s”. Is photography your career choice or is it just a hobby? Photography at the moment is most definitely my career choice. I want to make money doing what I love, and right now photography is what I love. I don’t want to grow up and be like one of those adults that let life get in the way so they have to go to a job they hate everyday, and do what they love on the side. What advice would you have for beginners? Just look at other great photographers, find work that you like and get inspiration from that. A lot of what I learned about photography came from watching videos, and actually taking time to learn about my camera. Shooting in manual is definitely a must to learn because you need to know how to control light in order to convey a mood in your images. FIlm is also cool to experiment with, I’m still learning about that. Madison, 17, South Jersey I'm a seventeen year old photographer from New Jersey. I'm a senior in a high school so I'll be graduating this June. I plan to stick around here for a few years but I hope to live in a city like Philly or New York one day. Art has always been a passion of mine but photography took center stage my sophomore year and I have never enjoyed something more. When I'm not shooting I'm usually in the kitchen, as I also love researching and cooking healthy food. Why photography? I have always been interested in the art field, and I feel photography is the medium I work best with. It enables me to accomplish every vision that pops into my head. What made you so passionate about it? I believe the human body is the most beautiful piece of art, and when I saw other photographers portraying it through portrait photography it automatically caught my interest. I love making people feel beautiful. How long have you been into photography? I began to take interest in photography as a freshman in high school, but I really took off with it the summer after my sophomore year when I bought my first DSLR. How would you describe your shooting style? I would describe my style as portrait photography with a twist. I never have a strict path for my shoots, I'm always running back and forth between different locations and pulling out last minute props like glitter and charcoal. What accomplishments have you made so far? (photography related) I've placed in the top 500 for two photography contests, and I have been able to make friends from across the country with my photos. What do you see yourself doing in the next 5 years? I hope to be graduated college and beginning a career in the nutritional science field. My goal is to be a dietitian full time and a photographer part time. Do you think photography is a hard field to get into? With every career, there is competition, and in that aspect it is hard. But if you network right and really start to get your name out there at the onset of your career its very easy to find clients. Like every art field photography is all about creativity and making it your own, so it should never be hard if you're expressing yourself. Is photography your career choice or is it just a hobby? I guess you can say it's a bit of both for me, I'm going to school to study a different field but I hope to keep up with my photography and continue to make money with it. What advice would you have for beginners? My advice would be to find inspiration, try out a bunch of different styles until you find your own. Once you're happy with your work really network and get your name out there. Miguel, 21, Miami to Washington Heights Stylist in the making. My Fashion Inspiration: always been attracted by the power of transformation that trendy clothing gives a person. Fashion has inspired my life to work harder then ever to get my dream and the dream of many others fulfilled. fashion isn't just following every trend, but having your own sense of style and able to stand out then the rest. Like coco Chanel once said '' in order to be irreplaceable one must always be different '' Fashion Goals: to be the one others applaud. To always dress as if I'm going to be caught by paparazzi not likely but never know. Fashion Struggles: None My favorite stores: Maje, Vince London, Sandro, All Saints, Helmut Lang, Diesel, Zara.Urban Kiko, 19, Bronx NY Fashion Inspiration: Solange knowles, Titania Ingles, Hedi Slimane, Pharell Williams, Kanye west (There's more, but I don't wanna overload you). Fashion Goals: I guess I would say that My goal is to start making money for what I to and to hold weight in the "fashion world" or really the world in general. I would also like to get to a point where I'm on top of my game all the time. Like it's kind of hard for me to want to be best dressed when i have to wake up at the break of dawn for class. I don't particularly feel glamorous in the mornings, I'm just like, "ESCORT ME BACK TO BED PLEASE!!!!!!" Fashion struggles: I as a Designer/ Consumer, its the cost of it all. When I'm creating a new garment, I want high quality fabrics, at minimal cost. Mind you, i'm a student and most of us students have a tight budget, but we still want to slay every chance we get. So I guess the question is, how to be fly and cost conscious at the same time. Aspirations: I aspire to to use my creative abilities to change the world. In the future I want to be able to start an organization what allows inner-city children/teens to hone in on they're talents, whether art, design, visual performance, what have you. I just want to give everyone the chance to understand the amount they can contribute to the world through creativity. Fav shops: I'm huge on thrifting so, Beacons Closet, Goodwill, Metropolis. When I shop mainstream: H&M, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters. Design Journey: Well, I started out just only wanting to be an Interior design, but I've always had a love for fashion. By the time i began my junior year in high school, There was like this this trend where everyone started bleaching all their denim jeans, cutting them into shorts and distressing them. I started making some for my friends around school, which was pretty cool i guess. I never charged, but looking back at it, it feels like I was prostituting my talents, but anyways, as time went on, I just started to thrift because I didn't always have the funds to by "new stuff" so whenever i did that, sometimes I found the clothes to be a little dated and I didn't want it to look like I was steal clothes out of my moms closet,(even though sometimes would be). So I would I guess, Remix it like sew a pocket on to an old top or add little embellishments to make the garment more modern. When I got to my First year a parsons, I took a "soft structures" class, which is like sewing 101. The Course was taught be a young designer named Titania Ingles, Who has had her line in fashions week and all that, so she's pretty much the shit. Well anyways, I remember design a bag made of burlap and cotton jersey knit. Which sounds corny, but it was a big deal because it was new to me, because it was my first time making a pattern. After i finished that course, I knew enough to know how to make patterns for garments and make basic things from scratch like, shirts, skirts, dresses sweaters, you know, the minor things. Now that I have more experience I take thrifted items, things from regular retail shops or even my moms old stuff and take out of the seams and make something new. Like, I could make a skirt out of fabric from some shirt I had in high school or something and pair it with one of my moms oversized blazers from the 80's and walk down the street and someone would be like, "Where'd you get that?"
