Im Xavier Day from Orange New Jersey I currently work for nordstrom doing styling and Sales I also do photography and I'm trained in camera operating . Today I will be covering what to look for during New York fashion week September 2015 . If you can go I say go because this will be an amazing season the first season ever to not be at Lincoln center but at the skylight at Clarkson square . This will also be the first season that Givenchy will be participating in New York fashion week besides just Paris fashion week . The artist will be showing there spring collection for next year so I expect light colors thin silk materials , linen , and sheer also transitional jackets for the cool and warm weather . The must see shows are Adam selmen , Givenchy , Jeremy Scott , hood by air , opening ceremony , Alexander wang , and Zac Posen . Just to name a few expect this season to be a star studded one from Kim and Kanye , Rihanna , Ann Wintour of course just to name a few if you can not attend any shows I will say still come out and do street photography because the street style will be another fashion show just by it self alone. The first draft of the CFDA-approved schedule for New York Fashion Week: Women’s has been released! This season it’s out earlier than ever and is subject to change. Updates to the grid will be made weekly on CFDA.com.

Hello I'm CJ, and I am nineteen years old, I'm currently a full time college student working in the world or retail, and I'm from the state of Arkansas. And I call myself a Fashion Enthusiasts. To me being a Fashion Enthusiasts means that you're a trend setter, and you go to the beat of your own drum when it comes down to your personal style and you also help others stay up to date with what's going on in the world of Fashion. With me being from a part of the south where fashion isn't this monumental movement, I wanted to be the one that stood out from everyone else when it came down to the reason why I styled myself. And people would sometimes look at me crazy because I dress so differently from everyone else in my surroundings. With me being from a single parent home, funds weren't always there for me to get the nicer things when it came down to fashion. So I would go thrift shopping and sometimes take hand me downs from friends and family members. But I would always make the best out of any situation that was thrown my way. To me fashion is a ever changing art form that shows the person that you are. What drawn me to become a Fashion Enthusiasts is that I want to change the way people view fashion. Fashion isn't just expensive clothing you see on the runway or what you see in high end boutiques. Fashion is what you make it. Fashion should be fun, not a hassle. My short term goal is a start a YouTube Channel and give advice on the current fashion trends, and help ones with any styling problems that they may have. And that will open doors for my long term goal which is to own my very own boutique named after me "CJ's". What my boutique will provide for ones is that it will be the most current trends in fashion but for a very reasonable price. But with being a Fashion Enthusiasts comes responsibility, with that being said people look up to me when it comes to style. And if I don't meet up to some people's expectations, they want take me seriously. But me being nineteen years old. My life is basically a book, I've already experienced the first couple of chapters, now it's time to see what the rest of it holds.

Hey I'm Louis, I'm sixteen but I'll be seventeen
August 18th. I don't call myself a model because that's not really what I am, I just like posing for pictures occasionally. That whole title situation puts me in a box and I want to do much more than just model. I'll do it if the opportunity arises and it works out, I can't really go out of my way to do it. I don't live in the city so most of the shoots I go to are heinous to set up, super complicated and costs a little. It's fun though and I'm grateful to get the opportunity to do some of the projects I've been able to do. Foremost, I make my art and like expressing myself. I think an important part of me growing up was my involvement in social media. It's such a great outlet for self expression and also to give people an opportunity to see things they may not see in their everyday life. It opens a lot of doors and enables a lot of people growing up to figure out aspects of who they are even if they're not exposed to it. I live in rural New York and it's beautiful and scenic and definitely secluded. I'd imagine it would be a nice place to vacation but I wouldn't know because it's where I live and it's what I'm used to. Obviously, in any small town there is an extreme deficit in diversity. I don't resonate much with the norms and standards to where I'm from, but I appreciate it nonetheless. I've been given the opportunity to be around ignorance (not to say everyone where I'm from is ignorant) and learn how to effectively deal with dissent between other people. I guess if you look for positivity you could find it in anything. I think what I'd really love to do in my future is of course be happy but also work as a creative director for fashion photo-shoots or maybe an opportunity at a job at Calvin Klein, I love Calvin Klein. I draw a lot of my inspiration from the group CK One ads with Kate Moss and Jenny Shimizu, or the banned jeans ad. I hope to find a way in the future to incorporate my art with fashion in a some type of way. But in the near distant future I have to go to college, but that will get me into the city and make the whole come up easier. I like living my life one day at a time and not really stressing about the future though, so we'll see what happens

“It’s a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together as one.”

My name is Emma Bahi, I’m a nineteen year old makeup artist in Maryland and this is my story.

I’ve always been very artistic in every way possible. Art was a form for me expressing myself to the world and healing everyone around me. Ever since the fifth grade, I was interpreting the world I saw on paper. Coming from Silver Spring, MD… you don’t get a lot of action and nothing much happens here. So, I found comfort in doing art and I pursued it. It healed me along the way and molded me into who I am today.

It was only a matter of time before I discovered that my artistic talent could be interpreted on faces and bodies, as well. Once I knew I could turn my heart driven passion into a career, I jumped at the opportunity. Art was therapeutic to me and being able to transfer that form of therapy to others (that is making them feel better about themselves y’know?), I did everything to reinforce my natural abilities and learned whenever and wherever I could.

I never actually wore makeup until 10th grade year of high school and once I did, I discovered how much I loved it. I just fell into makeup artistry. Once I took makeup artistry seriously and knew this is one of the things i wan to pursue, I worked on perfecting my talent. I assisted makeup artists, went to seminar and practiced on my own. I also got to work with a makeup opportunity (but not everyone gets that chance so even if you don’t it’s okay, still go for it). Practice is key in this business. The makeup world is always renovating and although old aspects get re-introduced, new techniques are formed along the way. if you’re not willing to learn, you’ll always be limited and that was something I never wanted to be. To be frank with you, once I started, I only had a background of painting but it still was a struggle rendering my painting skills into makeup skills.

I never attended makeup school (because honestly, I didn’t have the money and I learned all the basics they taught working with other artists) but I became the best that I could be and never settled for little.

Once I decided to be free-lanced, It was the ultimate struggle. I was just building my business and trying to get myself out there and it was hard. People only didn’t take me seriously because of my age but also because I wasn’t “well known”. But I always let my talent speak for myself. It’s good to be a makeup artist who knows how to do makeup but there’s many people out there. You have to know how to stand out and be different from the rest. You have to know your colors, how everything works and how to create out of nothing. But most of all, the key aspect is your motivation and passion for it. If you’re in it for the money… it’s not worth doing this job. Do it because it’s a passion for you, not a trend. That’s what will keep the clientele.

Today I’m happy where I am. I have developed a good clientele and I’m still growing (whether it’s slowly or rapid) but it’s okay. It’s going where I want it to be right now and I like it. Soon, I’ll be able to be a makeup instructor and travel around teaching and also doing celebrities' makeup. I do have more dreams after that. Although it’s a long way to go, I’ll get there soon if I’m driven.

If I could give any advice to you guys..? Honestly it would be to never give up and practice. Hard times will come and people will doubt you harshly. But continue at your won pace. Remember, you’re only on a race with yourself and not others. I also want to make a quick note that you shouldnot expect to make money…not at first-lol! You may get the occasional paid job (assisting or otherwise) but if you’re in this for the fortune, you’ve got a lot of work ahead of you. There are going to be times where you’ll work your ass off..such is the life of a freelancer.

Lastly, BE KNOWN FOR YOUR WORK (not your attitude). You may be able to do killer makeup - but if you’ve got a high and mighty attitude or are hard to work with, people are going to get tired of you really quickly. So do a great job, communicate and breathe positivity, then you’re going to get repeat bookings.

Hope this inspires someone…

"I am a series of small victories and large defeats and I am amazed like any other that I have gotten from there to here"

That quote is basically representing my life . I'm Anthony Gil - 23 years old from the Bronx NY . I started Modeling at 15 years old when I had did a teen competition for IMG model and got to be in a gap spread. I always wanted to model since the age of 5 years old. My aunt was also an IMG model so I use to watch her all the time practice at home. I always doubt it myself that it was going to happen for me because of my skin , weight and braces . You could say I was what people would call an ugly ducky . I didn't have much self confidences because I felt like a black sheep. Going through struggles from making bad decisions to being on the street due to some of decisions I made. I became a rebel and was angry all the time because I didn't feel accept by those close to me (friends and family). My dark past and my dream is what I had to motivate me and I didn't want it to be just a dream

Picture

This year so far I have been feature in two blogs for my fashion / the way I dress . I was on the sasha show - MTV2 , interview by sway in the morning assistant . Have done photoshoots , video shoots , radio press and have cohost the buzz NYC talk show. I recently got signed to a production team and now working on my first single to drop by the end of this year . . I was one of those people who didn't believe in themselves because of some many negative people in my life bringing me down and telling me it wasn't gunna happen for me . I could say that this year having people in the business wanting to work with me and telling me I'm beautiful and I'm amazing it gave me the confidence that I am good enough to represent for anyone who ever felt like they couldn't do it or had people telling them no .. I have had the doors slam on me many times and now look with drive and motivation I have done things I thought I would never do and what's yet to come . My life  is modeling, fashion and singing and it will continue being my life until I get everything on my bucket list off . With each passion of mine I have a different goal . Modeling I wanna be the cover of ink magazine . With fashion I would love to own my clothing line and with singing of course like any artist I wanna Grammy one day and be recognize for my talent . Dreams are what has gotten me here and what's going to continue pushing me forward . Stay true to myself and stay positive .

So, I was born with the name Nycole but growing up I was known as Nikki. Today, I go by the name, Nik. I am 22 going on 23 years old in July this year. I was born and raised in Connecticut. Now every time I mention where I'm from, people automatically think I grew up either in a small suburban town surrounded by trees, or in a mansion somewhere. No, I am from Hartford, a.k.a. the hood.

I've gone through many struggles in my life but the hard times is what keeps me on my grind so I can do better for my family.

Ever since the age of 5, dance has been my safe haven. I first started dancing at my church, then I began professionally training at a performing arts center studying ballet, tap, jazz, African, modern, hip-hop, and acting. By the time I was in high school, I was in a dance company and it was during one of our photo shoots where I was discovered by a local designer to model for her clothing line. So I began working with various photographers, designers, stylists and other models locally. That is when I suddenly fell in love with fashion!

After my first year in college at Temple University, I decided to pursue fashion and transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City.

Now, you would think that after moving to New York and graduating from one of the top fashion schools in the world, I would have my life all figured out by now... Wrong! I am actually more confused than ever. I've experienced so many different things through internships and working in public relations, showroom/wholesale, licensing, production, retail, wardrobe styling, Fashion Week, etc. I've also never stopped dancing and now I'm working on my own music.

It's like, I want to have a career in all of those fields at once but it's not possible. That is why I just call myself an artist, I am an all-around creative person. I am inspired by the imperfections of the world, shapes, art, sculptures, and anything that is just plain weird.

The way I am living my life right now is just day by day. My future goal is to just be happy and to have a career in something that I am passionate about. If I land a job as a background dancer on a tour for a huge music artist, that's what I'm going to do. If my music career takes off, that's what I'm going to do. If I get hired as a wardrobe stylist for celebrities or fashion magazines, that's what I'll do. If I land a job at a major PR firm, that's what I am going to do.

You get the idea right?

I am still figuring out who I am as a person which is another reason why I just can't make up my mind or stick with one thing at a time. But that's okay, it's better to be a jack-of-all-trades than a one-trick-pony. The fact that I just use the word "pony" means I should probably wrap this up... Well, I'm not that great at giving motivational speeches or words of encouragement so I'm just going to say, "You have to get lost before you find yourself."

Linen & Cotton

Summer is finally here and the heat is amongst us. With that being said, we must be able to dress comfortably while still being able tol slay. Two of the most comfortable affordable clothing materials are linen and cotton. We tend to just look at clothes for their labels but never look at the material. The biggest mistake we can make is wearing an outfit out and throughout our day, become completely drenched in sweat. Down below are linen and cotton outfits that are like any other outfit; the only difference is the material.

Here we have a linen oversized poncho sweater.
