My name is Ricardo D'oleo (MozartRick//28thCenturyMan) and I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I moved from the Dominican Republic to New York. At the age of 9. It was a struggle coming from the Dominican Republic because I had to learn a new language, and man, I wasn't very interested in learning a new language. New York is everything, it has everything. If it wasn't for New York, I'm not sure I would've ever been determined to pursue in a music career.
One song that lit a spark for me to pursue in music was, "Beautiful People" by Chris Brown. That's the track that started everything for me and it was my favorite song all of time. The tone used in the song was very futuristic and the song had a innovative tone--different from the songs Chris Brown usually makes. My inspiration is Kanye West as well. "808's and Heartbreaks" made me appreciate art and showed Kanye's growth as an artist. His sound on the album was different and that's something I want to do as an artist. I don't want to make mainstream music, I want to be an artist. The album had a remarkable impact on my life. I related to the album, because of my painful breakup that I went through when I was 14.
My ex was my first love and my first heartbreak. It was a painful experience as well as a humbling experience. All is well now because that experience inspired me to become the artist I'm going to be.
I want to be an artist that inspires people through my music. I want to feel the adrenaline when I go on stage and put on a good show for my fans. I want to show creativity through my music--as well as visuals. My sound will be heard, some people will like this sound and some won't. That's how life is, I want to create a sound that is unique and not generic. I will get to that point, and I will create art.
Music inspires me through fashion as well. Kanye West is an inspiration to me in a variety of ways. His outlook on fashion, and the way he dresses inspires me, but I still have my own style. I don't follow trends. I want to get to a point in my career where I create trends.
I'm so thankful for the people that I've met this year, I'm thankful for my team, I've witnessed some setbacks and got through it. 2015 is going to be a good year and it will show what I have to offer. I can't wait man, I'm so humbled and thankful for the things I've received thus far.
